Nissan Z, Nissan 350Z
Introduction:
The 350Z is
Nissan’s modern recreation of the legendary Z-car, with styling
cues from the original 240Z of the 1970s. The 300ZX was last sold
in 1996 and the 350Z coupe debuted for the 2003 model year with
the Roadster joining the lineup for 2004.
New For 2005:
The 350Z 35th Anniversary Edition features a power increase
to 300 horsepower, 18-inch cast aluminum-alloy wheels, front and
rear spoilers, Brembo brakes, special Z badging and three color
choices: Ultra Yellow, Super Black and Silverstone. Roadster Grand
Touring Edition is added with 6-speed manual, Brembo brakes, Vehicle
Dynamic Control and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. All 350Z versions
receive standard Tire Pressure Monitor System, reduced clutch pedal
effort for manual transmission, downshift rev matching for automatic
transmission models and heated outside mirrors.
Consumer Reports' Short Take:
The 350Z is a two-seat coupe that shares underpinnings
with the Infiniti G35. The engine is a smooth-revving 3.5-liter
V6. The manual gearbox feels slightly notchy. Handling is fairly
agile, but the stiff ride is uncomfortable. A convertible with a
power-operated top is available.
